Your first steps with us
Evaluation visit
Your initial visit lasts for about 2-3 hours, during which time you meet with members of the Mandolean® treatment team, who will continue to meet with you for your entire course of treatment. Your assessment starts with a comprehensive evaluation of your eating behavior, including a test meal eaten with the Mandometer® device to get a baseline status of your eating pattern. Additionally, we do psychological and physiological tests, and measure your body fat, body weight, and height.
Starting treatment
You will then meet with your personal case manager, who is either a registered dietician, nutritionist, registered nurse or licensed social worker. Your case manager meets with you every week for the first six weeks, then every second week for the following six weeks, and finally once every six weeks. Each visit takes approximately one hour.
The case manager and you go over the results from the eating evaluation, decide on your body-weight goal, write your individual treatment plan, decide on your short-term goals and your long-term goals, design your meal plan, along with your physical activity plan, and you are rewarded for every goal that is met. You then begin your training with the Mandometer® device.
Increasing physical activity
Our patients are asked to increase their physical activity each day and your progress is monitored with the use of a pedometer. The activity goal is to walk 10,000 steps every day, with 3,000 of these steps taken at a higher speed to give you aerobic exercise.
